This renovation and expansion transforms an existing Pasadena residence into a home better suited for modern family living while respecting the scale and character of the surrounding neighborhood. The project includes a thoughtfully integrated second-story addition, a first-floor expansion, and a complete reorganization of the site to improve functionality both inside and out. Rather than simply adding square footage, the design focuses on creating a cohesive composition that appears as though it has evolved naturally over time. Carefully proportioned gabled roof forms, a recessed central entry, and balanced massing help the enlarged home maintain a warm, residential character while significantly increasing livable space.

Beyond the home itself, the project reimagines the entire property. The existing detached garage will be demolished and replaced with a new two-car garage accessed from a newly created driveway along the property's side street frontage, removing vehicle circulation from the rear yard and greatly improving site organization. Relocating the garage frees the former garage footprint to become a true outdoor living space, making room for a new swimming pool and a more generous backyard designed for recreation and entertaining. By balancing architectural additions with meaningful landscape improvements, the project creates a home that functions as well outdoors as it does indoors, offering a seamless relationship between the expanded residence and its newly revitalized exterior spaces.
