Karabachian Architects, Inc (KAI) is a full-service architecture office located in La Crescenta area of City of Glendale, California. Incorporated in 2019, the office’s prolific work started with building small Fox figurines that were marketed as small paperclip holders. What started as a weekend hobby building a dozen or so foxes a month, quickly turned into a larger than life operation with 2,000 Fox Paperclip holders a month that were being manufactured in Texas with CNCs.

Contracts were made with Crate & Barrel, CB2, and other retailer from around the world. In the span of two years, over 10,000 Fox Paperclip holders were manufactured and distributed around the world. Sevak graduated from Harvard in 2010 and started working for Frank Gehry in Los Angeles. Prior to that he worked for two years at Michael Maltzan Architecture in Silverlake.

In 2015, Sevak and Talar met, and were married in 2016. Their first project together was their Condo in Glendale, where all they wanted to do was get new tile in the laundry room. Realizing their ability to work together (somewhat peacefully) the vision of the office naturally shifted from smaller day-to-day items, to larger scale design projects. By 2019, Sevak acquired his California Architect’s license and the firm was fully operational as a full-service design firm.
